Charpy impact energy absorption of 3D printed continuous Kevlar reinforced composites

Additive manufacturing (AM) has been used widely to produce three-dimensional (3D) parts from computer-aided design (CAD) software. Traditional Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printed polymer lack the necessary strength be for functional in service. The potential of printing continuous fiber reinforced composites resulted with better mechanical properties and enhanced performance. Very few studies have investigated impact energy absorption 3 D composites. purpose this work is investigate effect different patterns (unidirectional versus concentric), stacking (consolidated alternating layers), orientations (0 ° , 90 45 ) on Kevlar Onyx Charpy testing was determine specimens. It concluded that matrix layers as opposed consolidating all center specimen results lower absorption. Additionally, specimens unidirectional 90° orientation had lowest among pattern those consolidated [Formula: see text]45° angle-ply highest
